In 2023, being retired and used to always working as an RN, in the Dental  office, or school & community volunteer with many of our projects in Oskaloosa, I found myself needing more than keeping busy with home projects. While sitting in Smokey Row one fine autumn day, we talked about empty buildings around the square and what "Osky really needed for options of things to do". The idea was born! "You should do it they said"

Experiencing Pubs in Ireland and other small Midwest towns, the idea took on a life of its own.  Finding an ideal building at 208 1st Ave East was the easy part,  Approaching good friends on a beautiful autumn day about helping to "build a pub" became a real deal and the rest is history. As we visited with consultants and locals, the idea was meant with great support and enthusiasm which made us think this thing could really happen.

Business plans and research, was the mentally challenging piece and finding the perfect items on "Facebook marketplace", Ebay, and local shops was the really fun part.  Working with Karl and friends in finetuning the design, and then actually building it was definitely a new learning curve for me, plumbing, electrical, HVac. 

The most rewarding part is pulling all the stuff we found together to make this really cool place and seeing it come together was really invigorating and consumed my life.
